This idea for this piece came from my fascination with the fruit and seed, and how I can depict these forms with different materials and at various scales.
This piece was my first work in andesite, a hard volcanic stone from Taranaki, New Zealand. This stone is harder than the sedimentary Oamaru limestone I often use and requires power tools to work it. This work was made at the 2003 Feilding Stone Symposium.
